The name of our
country/motherland/homeland is Bangladesh. It is a small South-East Asian
country. The total land area of it is 1,47,570 square kilometers. About 160
million people live here. The North, the West, and the most part of the Eastside is surrounded by India.
The Southeast part of the East is attached with
Myanmar and Bay of Bengal. In past Bangladesh was known as East Pakistan
and then East Bangla. It became free on the 16th of December in 1971
after a nine-month blood-curding struggle against the brutal Pak-army. Dhaka is
the capital of Bangladesh.
Almost every people of Bangladesh speak in the
Bengali language. English is spoken as a second language. Besides, different
regional languages and dialects are used here. The national dress for men is
pajamas and panjabi and for women sari. But educated people wear trousers and
shirts and women salwar and kamij. Most people wear lungi and shirts.
Bangladesh has a traditional culture. It has some qualities which make it
different from others. Hospitality includes a society’s beliefs, customs,
languages, and so on. Bangladeshi culture is remarkable for folk song such as
Lalongity, Pallygity, Rabindra Sangit, Nazrul Sangit, etc. Most of the people of
Bangladesh are Muslims.
Moreover, Hindus, Christians, and Buddhists live here
peacefully and harmoniously. Bangladesh belongs to six seasons like summer,
rainy, autumn, late autumn, winter, and spring. Ours is a riverine country. Its
main rivers are the Padma, the Meghna, the Jamuna, the Brahmaputra, the Surma, etc. The main crops of Bangladesh are rice, jute, wheat, tea, sugarcane, etc.
About 80% of the people in Bangladesh live in the village. Their chief occupation is
cultivation. There are some other professions too. Such as service, teaching,
technical and industrial work, etc. Many religious festivals are held in
Bangladesh like Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha, Durgapuja, Christmas Day, Buddha
Purnima so on. The main attraction of Bangladesh is its natural beauties. It
has the longest sea-beach of the world at Cox’s Bazar, St. Martin Island,
Kuakata sea-beach, Shat Gambuj Mosque, Sundarbans, the ruins of Buddhist Bihar
are the main tourist spots. Actually, we are very proud of our loving country
Bangladesh.
